An 88-year-old Jamaica woman was sexually assaulted after an unknown intruder entered her home Oct. 17, police said.
The assailant broke into the victim’s home at about 6:45 a.m. Oct. 17 and sodomized her, said Officer Jeanetta Williams, a community affairs officer for the 113th Precinct.
The elderly woman was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital where she was listed in stable condition, Williams said.
The victim’s name and the location of her home were not released by police in order to protect the woman’s privacy.
The assault occurred within the confines of the 113th Precinct, which covers South Jamaica, Rochdale Village and part of Springfield Gardens, Williams said.
According to published reports, the attack took place just 15 minutes after the victim’s grandson, who lived with her, left for work, but Williams said the attacker was not the woman’s grandson.
The Daily News reported the intruder entered the woman’s home through an open window, but Williams could not confirm that information.
The intruder also robbed the woman of cash and valuables, according to published reports.
At press time, police were still searching for the perpetrator.
On Oct. 5, a 38-year-old South Jamaica man was convicted of sodomizing his own grandmother in 1999.
That man, Gary Williams, of 120-06 142nd St. in South Jamaica will be sentenced Nov. 5 to 25 years to life in prison, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.
