Police Blotter: Elderly man hit by car at Main and 73rd Ave. dies

KEW GARDEN HILLS — An unidentified man in his 70s was struck by a vehicle at Main Street and 73rd Avenue about 5 p.m. Saturday and died soon afterwards, police said.

After he was hit, the victim was taken to New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens and pronounced dead on arrival.

The vehicle was driven by a 31-year-old man who was not charged, said police.

Flaming liquid tossed on Robinson Street

FLUSHING — Someone ignited a flammable liquid inside a container and threw it in front of 45-43 and 45-47 Robinson St. at about 4:40 a.m. Oct. 10, police said.

No one was hurt, and there was only minor damage to the property, police said.

Police were investigating.

Flushing girl, 9, DOA at hospital

FLUSHING — Police responded to a report of an unconscious 9-year-old girl at 142-20 Franklin Ave. at about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The child was taken to Flushing Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival, said police.

The medical examiner is to determine the cause of death.

Man hands note to teller to rob 164th Street bank

POMONOK — An unidentified man entered the North Fork Bank, 69-9 164th St., at about 12:40 p.m. Saturday and passed a note to a teller demanding cash, police said. He fled with $1,000, police said.

Police were investigating.

Man shot after pointing weapon at cops: Police

FAR ROCKAWAY — A police officer shot a man in the arm after the man pointed a weapon at him, police said.

Officers had responded to a call at about 7:30 p.m. Monday of a group of men in a dispute at 54-30 Beach Channel Drive.

One of the men pointed a weapon at one of the officers, police said. An officer fired and struck him in the arm. The man was then taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition, police said.

Two men were arrested.

Teenager shot in leg on Beach Channel Drive

FAR ROCKAWAY — A teenager was shot in the leg in front of 56-16 Beach Channel Drive at about 11:20 a.m. Sunday, said police. He was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.

Police were investigating.

Three on bikes attack man on 31st St. in ethnic assault

ASTORIA — A man told police that he was approached by three men on bicycles in front of 25-36 31st St. at about 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 10.

One of the men knocked the victim to the ground and made ethnic remarks against him, he told police.

Police did not describe the ethnicity of the victim.

Man arrested after chasing group into LIC mosque: Cops

LONG ISLAND CITY — A 30-year-old man was arrested Saturday afternoon after he allegedly chased a group of men into a mosque at 25-68 31st St. while yelling anti-Semitic remarks at them, police said.

Arrested was Ralph Gibler of 29-21 21st Ave.

Man demands money in robbery of Richmond Hill clothing store

RICHMOND HILL — A man in his 20s walked into a clothing store at 102-14 Atlantic Ave. and demanded money at about 11:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.

He fled with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

Woman robs bank in Richmond Hill

RICHMOND HILL — A 28-year-old woman entered a Bank of New York branch at 117-20 Jamaica Ave. about 1:30 p.m. last Thursday and demanded money, police said.

She fled with an undetermined amount of money, police said.

LIC woman receives anti-Semitic letter

LONG ISLAND CITY — A woman of an unidentified age received a letter which contained anti-Semitic remarks at about 9:45 a.m. last Thursday at her 21st Street home, said police.

Police were investigating.

Woman killed by No. 7 train after jumping onto tracks

WOODSIDE — A 51-year-old woman was seen jumping in front of a No. 7 train at the 69 Street/Roosevelt Avenue station at about 2 p.m. Friday, police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Man, 42, found dead atop 31st Ave. home

ASTORIA — A woman found the body of a 42-year-old man on the rooftop of 14-07 31st Ave. at about 10:25 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Police were investigating.
