Just as the basketball season was coming to an end for the St. John’s Red Storm, ESPN, the all-sports cable network, aired the first of a two-part series on the team called “The Season.”
“The Season,” which shows behind-the-scenes footage of the St. John’s Red Storm coaches and players during practice, in class, with their families and during team meetings, gives fans an insider’s look at the team and its successes and failures during the 2001-2002 campaign.
Part one of the series, which aired Sunday, showed the first half of the season, including the emergence of Marcus Hatten as the team’s star and the dissatisfaction of some team members, most notably Alpha Bangura, with playing time.
The second and final installment will air Sunday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
