The Holy Family girls softball team defeated Queen of Peace in CYO action, 17-16. Holy Family scored nine runs in the first inning, led by a three-run home run off the bat of Jackie Chang and a bases-loaded double by Katherine Dougherty that cleared the bases. Jackie led the team with five RBIs, while Anniela Vaccaro had a team-high four hits. Nina Yang went 3-for-3 with two doubles and four runs scored.
Julianne Keyes was the winning pitcher, tossing a complete game, including an exciting finish. With the bases loaded, Jeanna Dalvano completed a force out at second to end the game. Margaret Mulligan, in her first at bat in a softball game, hit a home run with one runner on. Queen of Peace rallied for eight runs in the third inning to lead to the exciting and dramatic game ending.
