The Big Green of St. Andrew’s played a final match of their three-game series against St. Stan’s of Brooklyn on Saturday at Kissena Corridor One.
St. Stan’s jumped to an early 3-1 lead, as they manufactured runs on two walks, stolen bases and sacrifices. However, St. Andrew’s stormed back in the bottom of the third inning with three runs and took the lead for good.
John McEntee pitched the entire game for Big Green, giving up only three hits and five walks, while striking out an impressive season high 13 Stan’s batters over seven innings.
The whole line-up for St. Andrew’s was productive, as Sean McEnerny went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Daniel Capeau (3-for-3, two RBIs, John McEntee (2-for-3, walk, two RBIs), Mike Lopresti (1-for-4, RBI), Matthew Galizia (1-for-1, RBI), Arton Haliti (1-for-3, two RBIs), Charlie Acquista (1-for-1, walk, RBI), David Domiguez ( 1-for-2, walk, two RBIs), Jimmy Ceccio, (two walks, RBI), Matt Routh (1-for-2, walk), Evan Shin, (walk) and Billy Almon .
Big Green sparkled in the field as well, as they had eight fielding put outs while allowing only two errors in their strong 14-5 victory. St. Andrew’s win places them in second place in their division with two regular season games left before playoffs.
