The College Point Road Runners Track Club became the first team from Queens to finish in the Team Club Championships over the five-mile course in Central Park last Saturday. The New York Road Runners Club conducted the race.
Led by Yorki Munoz’s 29th overall place finish in 26:43.32, the College Point Road Runners Track Club scored 1,487 points for ninth place in a field of 22 clubs from New York City, New Jersey and Westchester.
‘The race was tough,” said Munoz, a resident of Jackson Heights and the top runner from the club. “The weather was hot and humid. This race is once a year. I do everything for my team. And I was focused for this race. I came out and did my best, even though it wasn’t my best time.”
Behind Munoz were Marco Monjardin (58th place, 27:36), Samir Hailovic (120th place, 29:32), Juan Mena (146th Place, 30:05) and Antonio Medina (148th place 30:06). Overall, 10 CPRRTC runners scored.
Led by Carmen Vivar’s 35:52 for 73rd place, the women fro the CPRRTC wound up with 933 points for 21st place in a field of 26 clubs.
Meanwhile, Quantum Feet’s men, led by Marc Çrosswell’s 73rd place in 28:12 and Andy Mitchell’s 29:06 for 106th place, finished in the 20th spot as a team with 1,147 points. The club’s female runners, topped by Bridget Realmuto’s 34:36 for 56th place, finished 15th with 645 points.
