DAC (Jam Service) 16 , College Point 9. Going for their 10th victory out of 12 games played, the DAC All-Stars fell behind College Point by three runs in the first inning. But the 9- and 10-year-olds from DAC never gave up, collecting 16 runs in the next four innings as DAC was able to improve its record to 10-2. John Massa and Nick Zavattieri pitched well enough to hold off College Point’s late inning surge. John Massa also contributed with two home runs and six RBIs. John Siano, Andrew Gross and Mike Gallagher all hit the ball hard to combine for six hits. Johnny Liqouri collected three RBIs in the win. Brandon Rosenthal and Mike Gallagher were solid catching behind the plate.
DAC (Jam Service) 20, Forest Hills ‘B’ 2. Vincent Florido struck out eight out of the nine batters he faced and Brandon Sheiner did an excellent job closing the game, giving up only two runs while striking out three. Mike Gallagher was fantastic behind the plate giving the pitchers the confidence they needed. Offensively, Johnny Liqouri reached base four times, scoring three times. Brandon Rosenthal collected two RBIs on a hard-hit double.
DAC (Jam Service) 9, Elmjack 6. District 26 champs Elmjack were going to be a true test for the DAC 9- and 10-year-olds. But DAC jumped to a 7-3 lead by the second inning on a two two-RBI triples by Tommy Wojo and Vincent Florido. Nick Zavattieri contributed with a two-RBI double, while excellent base running by John Massa added a run. Defensively, Massa made two big catches in the outfield to stop any kind of a rally and John Siano made several clutch plays at shortstop. Greg Polkowski allowed only two runs in the last three innings to secure the victory.
DAC (Jam Service) 15, Bayside ‘B’ 3. After DAC’s first loss of the season two days earlier, the team bounced back to beat Bayside ‘B’. With Vincent Florido pitching four innings and only giving up four hits and three runs, DAC got back on the winning track. Nick Zavattieri blasted a grand slam and a solo homer, while Brandon Sheiner, Johnny Liqouri and John Massa each collected two hits. Brandon Sheiner, Greg Polkowski and Josh Ramirez all made solid plays on the field.
