The developers of a high-end retail mecca in Glendale believe their shopping center could be the thing that stops Queens shoppers from heading west to Nassau County. It will cost $100 million to build the elegant shopping center on the site of the Atlas terminals industrial complex.
The center will provide space for 75 stores in a 2.3-acre park.
City Councilman Dennis Gallagher (R-Middle Village) applauded the developer. “We don’t want anymore 99-cent shops,” he said.
Oh, yeah?
We applaud almost any plan that will create jobs and encourage people to spend their money in Queens. At a time when dreams are shrinking all around us, it’s nice to see someone is thinking big.
