A 41-year-old man was arrested Friday in connection with two incidents of rape and robbery when he implicated himself in the murder of a man found dead inside a burned minivan, police said.
Fuji Brown, 41, whose address was unknown, was arrested in Fort Greene in Brooklyn after he was listed as wanted in the sodomy of a 15-year-old boy in Brooklyn and the rape of a 16-year-old girl in South Jamaica, police said. The incidents took place over a period of eight days.
While police were questioning Brown on the attacks, he began to implicate himself in a third crime, the murder of an unidentified man found dead inside a burned van, police said. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of 107-56 139th St. in Jamaica at about 10 p.m. last Thursday, police said.
The medical examiner was to determine the cause of death of the man.
No formal charges had been made against Brown for any of the incidents, police said.
Police also recovered an unidentified weapon at the time of Brown’s arrest.
In the two sexual assault cases, two victims of two separate incidents identified Brown through a photograph lineup, police said.
The first incident took place Sept. 19 in Bushwick, Brooklyn, when Brown allegedly sodomized a male teenager at gunpoint, police said.
Brown also is suspected of raping a 16-year-old girl who was walking with a male friend, 17, in South Jamaica Sept. 20, police said. The pair was allegedly approached by Brown near the corner of 120th Avenue and 142nd Street just after midnight.
Brown allegedly demanded the pair’s jewelry and money before he grabbed the girl and ordered the boy to leave the area, police said.
He is suspected of taking the girl to an unknown location in a navy four-door vehicle, where he raped her, police said. He then let her out of the vehicle, they said.
She was taken to Jamaica Hospital for evaluation after her friend called police.
