The Bryan Geffen Show rolled along this week, as the junior out of Bayside continued to light up the scoreboard for the St. Francis Prep boys’ varsity basketball team.
Geffen finished with a game-high 34 points in leading Prep to a crucial 91-86 upset, an overtime win over the Archbishop Molloy Stanners Sunday in Briarwood.
The 5-foot-10 guard, who can play either the point or shooting guard positions, led the Terriers in scoring a year ago and in doing the same again this season. His 34-point performance Sunday came on the heels of a 28-point output against the Rice Raiders, a game the Terriers lost by 10, 94-84.
With Geffen controlling the ball, the Terriers have become one of the biggest surprises in the CHSAA this season. The team is 14-7 overall and 4-6 in the ever-competitive CHSAA SuperLeague. The win over Molloy solidifies that point head coach Tim Leary has been trying to prove all year, that Prep can beat the better teams in the league.
Come playoff time, Geffen and Co. will hope to prove that to a few more teams.
