A bake sale will be held in the chapel of the First Reformed Church, at 118-01 14th Ave., March 30, at 11 a.m. There will be treats and goodies for everyone’s taste.
On April 2 look for the Spring Luncheon at the First Reformed Church (lots of goodies).
St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus and Columbiettes present “Murder at the Luau,” a murder mystery written and performed by actors and actresses from the Killing Kompany. The event will be Friday, April 4, at 8 p.m. in the Council Hall, 22-38 College Point Blvd.
Tickets are $40 per person in advance and $45 if paid at the door. This price includes dinner, beer, wine, soda, coffee, tea and cake. There will be a cash bar available. Announcing traffic inconvenience: The 25th Annual Queens-Half Marathon and the Skaggs-Walsh 5K Run will be Saturday, May 17. The race will start at 121st Street on Poppenhusen Avenue (McNeil Park) at 8 a.m.
Please leave your car at home between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., as there will be traffic delays and rerouting. Look for the freshly painted blue line on the race course. Sixth Avenue to 25th Avenue on College Point Boulevard will be closed from 8 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. for the Skaggs-Walsh 5K Run.
A safe drivers course will be Saturday, April 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This class will allow you to save 10 percent annually for three years on collision and liability insurance premiums. It will also reduce up to four points of accumulated moving violations. The cost is $45. Register by calling the rectory at 718-445-6164.
Dance Into Spring, a multicultural dance fest at the Poppenhusen Institute, features performers from Israel, India, Scotland and more. This free event will be sponsored by the Flushing Jewish Community Council and the Multi-Cultural Committee. The Second Annual Ryan Fitzgerald 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament proceeds will benefit The Ryan Fitzgerald Scholarship Fund. The event will be Saturday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Holy Cross High School. There will be an entry fee of $200 per team. This price includes t-Shirts, refreshments, a DJ and three- point contest. There will be prizes for first and second place.
