Snows softball scores two wins over St. Kevin’s

The Our Lady of the Snows third- and fourth-grade girls’ softball team defeated a tough St. Kevin’s team twice last week by scores of 17-2 and 10-4.

OLS sent Shannon Vetack to the mound for three innings in each game, with Kaitlin Smolen pitching the final three innings of game one and Sara Correa throwing three shutout innings to start game two. The Snows girls continue to spread out the offense throughout their lineup.

Some of this week’s highlights were Ashley Tolento’s five hits and Caliegh O’Rourke’s three hits, while Julia Hannigan, Kaitlyn Biscotti and Meghan Gratzer added two hits apiece to the attack.

Angela Chavez, Alexa Losito, Gabriella Vasquez and Nimmi Thomas all saw their bats come to life as each girl picked up a hit during the week. Smolen continued to swing a hot stick by knocking out another seven hits, while Vetack added three hits and Correa chipped in two.

The Our Lady of the Snows intermediate boys’ baseball team improved its season record to 5-0 with a 12-4 win over St. Mel’s on Saturday.

The OLS boys were once again led by the strong pitching of Frankie Sadicario, who threw six innings, allowed one earned run on three hits and struck out 11. Snows continues to receive offensive support from everyone in the lineup.

Brian Biscotti continued to set the table for the heart of the order as he walked four times and drove in a run. Kevin Salcedo went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, Jeremy Hausdorf doubled while driving in two and Ray Potestio had two singles. Brian Kelleher, Alex Rydzewski and Ryan Paroulek all singled and drove in a run, and Frankie Sadicario went 3-for-5 with two runs to support his own cause.

This will be a telling week for the Snows boys as they play Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
