Police Blotter: Far Rockaway restaurant employee murdered in attempted robbery

FAR ROCKAWAY — A Chinese restaurant employee was murdered in an attempted robbery of her establishment Friday night, police said.

Li Zhen Lin of 180 Beach 14th St. was shot once in the head inside the Beautiful Garden Restaurant at 21-03 Cornega Ave., police said.

Authorities were searching for two men in connection with the killing.

Corona man posing as cop tries to get sex from undercover cop

FLUSHING MEADOWS — A Corona man posing as a police officer was arrested on charges of trying to arrange sex with an undercover detective he believed to be a 14-year-old girl he met on the Internet, authorities said.

Alex Diaz, 21, of 38th Avenue was apprehended near the Hall of Science on July 17, authorities said.

Diaz had been expecting to meet a 14-year-old girl, according to Queens District Attorney Richard Brown, after communicating with what turned out to be an undercover cop.

Diaz, a shoe store employee, had told the undercover officer online that he had a 17-year-old girlfriend who wanted to have a threesome and that age did not matter to him, the district attorney said.

Diaz faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted, authorities said.

Laurelton man shot during dispute with irate motorist

LAURELTON — A 28-year-old man washing his car was shot after getting into a verbal dispute with the driver of a passing car, police said.

As he was washing his car in front of 136-03 220th St., the man yelled at a speeding car that passed him by, police said.

The driver of the car stopped the vehicle, began arguing with the man and shot him in the leg, police said. The victim was rushed to Mary Immaculate Hospital in stable condition, police said.

The shooter was driving a 1997 Grey Nissan Maxima with New York license plate BTB-5408, police said.

Safe deposit boxes stolen from Auburndale bank

AUBURNDALE — Thieves stole 38 safe deposit boxes from Atlantic Bank after cutting a hole through the building’s roof, police said.

Police said the manager of the bank at 196-21 Northern Blvd. discovered the theft after he entered the building about 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Police were continuing their investigation.

Sanitation worker arrested on assault charge in Bayside

BAYSIDE — An off-duty Department of Sanitation worker was arrested at his home Monday on charges of assault, police said.

Gerald Camisa, who lives within the 111th Precinct, was apprehended at 5:45 p.m., police said.

Three males injured during fight at Flushing Meadows

FLUSHING MEADOWS — Two teenagers and one man were injured in a fight in Flushing Meadows Corona Park Sunday evening, police said.

A 17-year-old male and a 23-year-old man were stabbed in the back, and another 17-year-old male was punched in the head during the fight about 6:45 p.m., police said.

The three were rushed to New York Hospital Medical Center Queens in stable condition.

Police made no arrests and were investigating.

TA worker arrested in 111th on domestic violence charges

BAYSIDE — An off-duty Transit Authority technician was arrested Friday on charges of domestic violence, police said.

Steven Alesci was apprehended about 4:30 p.m., 111th Precinct police said.

Fresh Meadows bank rob suspect arrested in Suffolk

SUFFOLK COUNTY — A Coram, L.I. man has been arrested in connection with the January robbery of a Fresh Meadows bank, police said.

Gary Rosen of 10 Badger Lane was apprehended Friday on charges of robbery, police said.

Rosen allegedly robbed the Northfork Bank at 198-29 Horace Harding Expressway on Jan. 6 after passing a note to the teller, police said.

East Elmhurst man suffers eye injury in fight, dies later

EAST ELMHURST — An East Elmhurst man died in the hospital days after his eyes were gouged out in a fight with his roommate, police said.

The two men began fighting about 2 p.m. on July 16 at their 100-30 Ditmars Blvd. residence, police said.

Both men were arrested on charges of assault, police said.

One of the pair, Oscar Herrera, 53, was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center with serious injuries to his eyes, and died four days later.

The city medical examiner was to determine Herrera’s cause of death.

Three arrested, charged with fatally stabbing Corona man

CORONA — A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death by a group of three men inside a Corona bar early Monday morning, police said.

Adolpho Candia of 33-32 102nd St. was stabbed repeatedly by the men inside 104-17 Northern Blvd. at about 4:35 a.m., police said.

Candia was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Marcellino Lopez, 22, and Alejandro Maranto, 19, both of 99-02 42nd Ave. and Marino Garcia, 22, of 56-31 Waldon St. were arrested in the case, police said.

Elderly man attacked while sitting in car in Elmhurst

ELMHURST — Two men doused a 71-year-old man with a caustic liquid, pulled him out of his car and made off with the vehicle early Sunday morning, police said.

The man was sitting in his 2001 Hyundai Sonata at the corner of 57th Avenue and 92nd Street about 4:13 a.m. when the men attacked him, tossing the unidentified substance in his face, police said.

The victim was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital’s burn center in stable condition, police said.

Police were investigating.
