In an incredible final championship game, the David & Nancy Legaz, Re/Max Universal team prevailed behind the outstanding pitching of Stephen Ehresman and Kevin Green. Re/Max exhibited some clutch hitting with RBI singles by Dennis Brennan and Patrick Thompson sandwiched around two doubles by Stephen Ehresman, which was just enough to hold on offensively.
The game was in doubt until the final out. It was won defensively by a tremendous catch in deep right field by John Doyle and a perfect relay from Patrick Thompson to David Legaz to complete a thrilling double play.

Erin’s Isle 10, Flowers by Peter 9.
Erin’s Isle went undefeated in the DG playoffs to take the cup after wins over Mass Electric and Flowers by Peter. Erin’s Isle went into the finals needing to win one out of two games to capture the DG cup.
The last game against Flowers by Peter was the best. Erin’s defense was led by Quan Ngo and Matt Lenis, who held Flowers to a few shots in the first period to take a fast 2-0 lead. Less than four minutes left in the first period, Joey Tully of Flowers cut the lead in half with a nice shot.
Birthday boy Dean Rodriguez and Eric Wong of Erin’s scored the first two goals of the second period to make it 4-1. Both teams traded a few goals each to make the score 5-3, Erin’s. But Flowers came out flying in the third period with Joe Tully scoring two times to tie the score at 5. With less than five minutes left, Flowers threw all it had at Erin’s goalie J.D. Schabhuttl, but J.D. held them back, making save after save.
With less than four minutes to play, Capt. Steven Rufo passed the puck in front, where Andrew Grothmann banged in the winning goal. Flowers pressed the next few minutes, but defense by Ryan Shields, Jet Lem and Anthony Lenis held Flowers to a few good shots. Jimmy Huynh and Patrick Michon also had great games. Andrew Grothmann, who came on with seven goals in the last three games, received the MVP award from his team.
