The Concorde’s Troubled

After 25 years, the blight imposed on the airport communities surrounding Queens provided by the SST has finally come to an end. The final flight of the looming supersonic transporter was celebrated in Charles Park in Howard Beach on Friday at 7a.m. as elected officials, community activists and residents joined in a champagne toast for the farewell.
The final flight landed at Londons Heathrow shortly before 11 a.m. Only 100 passengers were aboard the landmark flight and included celebrities and aviation enthusiasts who were invited by British Airways. Some of the planes will eventually end up in museums across the country.
