APAC awards a $50 winner's prize to winning playwright. “This is the first time I've been paid for my work,” joked Watts as he accepted his winner's check. Hailing from Manhattan, Watts learned of the competition through various on-line sites and industry periodicals where APAC advertised the competition.
“John's script is very funny,” said APAC Executive Director Susan Scannell, “yet it addresses some pretty serious issues; and in the end you are left thinking.”
She added, “Our director, David Renwanz, directed last year's winning script also and he is great at working with the writer and the cast in developing new works so that they reach their full potential.”
