Duffy was quietly the most consistent pitcher in the CHSAA. Heading to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, the Little Neck native went 8-3 with a 2.48 earned run average.

Brian Duffy
Senior Archbishop Molloy
Duffy was quietly the most consistent pitcher in the CHSAA. Heading to the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, the Little Neck native went 8-3 with a 2.48 earned run average.
Catcher
Mike Xifaras
Senior St. Francis Prep
Still undecided, Xifaras was one of the league’s top power hitters. The 6-foot, 205-pounder was also stellar behind the plate and belted a mammoth Opening Day blast off the scoreboard at McClancy.
First Base
Roger Cobourne
Senior Christ the King
St. John’s coach Ed Blankmeyer likes Cobourne’s size and who can blame him. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder with the sweet swing and quick glove will bring his game to the Red Storm next year.
Second Base
Shaun Cheng
Senior Archbishop Molloy
Queens College gets a steal in Cheng, who batted .396 with six doubles, four homers, 33 RBIs and stuck out only 14 times. The Woodhaven native was also a stellar fielder for the Stanners.
Shortstop
Vinny Johnson
Senior McClancy
Johnson excelled both on the field and at the plate for McClancy this year. The Ozone Park native batted .470 with 35 RBIs and will be heading to Gloucester City Community College in the fall.
Third Base
Anthony Bruno
Senior Holy Cross
Bruno seemed to excel at whatever was asked of him for Holy Cross this year. At the plate he batted .350 with a homer and nine RBIs. On the mound he was 2-4 with a 4.20 ERA.
Left Field
Jason Kaye
Sophomore St. Francis Prep
Although just a sophomore, Jason Kaye stepped up in some big situations for the Terriers in the playoffs, including the game-winning hit in a win over Mount St. Michael in the second round.
Center Field
Matt Murdoch
Junior Archbishop Molloy
The junior from Middle Village was one of the top fielding centerfielders in the league this year and was a major reason Molloy was one of the last teams eliminated in the CHSAA playoffs.
Right Field
Danny Lopez
Sophomore McClancy
When Lopez got on base, which was more often than not, the odds were pretty good he was getting to second base. The sophomore from Astoria batted .380 with a team-leading 25 stolen bases.
Designated Hitter
Elvin Millan
Senior Christ the King
There was a wealth of talent behind the plate this year and Millan was one of the better catchers in the league. Still undecided, the 6-foot-3, 190-pounder was also one of the top hitters in the CHSAA.
