Lighting The Way To A Cure

The Queens Couriers own accounts supervisor, Liz Zazo, along with a team of 25 friends and family members, helped to raise more than $12,000 at the annual Light The Night Walk of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) on September 19.
Zazo, whose affiliation with the cause began when her daughter Jodi passed away at age 22 after a brave battle with T-cell lymphoma, recalls a happy, loving girl.
"She was the family clown," said Zazo. "But she was also very strong she was a survivor who was determined not to become a statistic."
Inspired by Jodis courage, Zazo said she felt she had to get involved.
"I was compelled to do the walk because I wanted to do something for research to help find a cure so that no families had to endure the loss of a child."
Jodis Family and Friends, as Zazos group was called, was the top fund-raising team, helping, along with the other 1,000 participants, to raise a total of $130,000 for LLS, whose mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins Disease and myeloma and to improve the quality of life for both patients and their families.
