Hailing from Jamaica, Queens, Skribble (born Scott Ialacci) always wanted to make music and “rock a crowd.” And that's what he has been doing for almost two decades. He is prominently known as MTV's versatile DJ, spinning a mix of hip-hop, dance, house, reggae and anything that gets the crowd going, which, according to him, is the sole purpose a DJ. He has toured and collaborated with artists like the Notorious B.I.G., the Fugees, Pink, the Chemical Brothers, the Jungle Brothers, Primus and Anthrax among others. Skribble has also provided the groove for MTV shows including “Sisqo's Shakedown,” “MTV Jams,” “The Grind,” “The Daily Burn,” “Yo! MTV Raps,” the annual Spring Break festivities, and “Global Groove,” which starred him at the turntables and people around the world and at home dancing to his mixes. He more recently got the chance to fulfill another one of his dreams: pimpin' your ride. A self- proclaimed “car nut,” Skribble took his love for cars a step further last June when he opened his very own Auto Spa in South Ozone Park. He has brought the concept of a spa, where you go to get pampered, and applied it to cars. “This is something that I've been wanting to do for a long time,” said Skribble as excited as a kid talking about his latest toy.But for Skribble, your car is serious business. He says that the goal of his auto spa, the first shop in the East Coast to be featured on MTV's “Pimp My Ride,” is to “give your car a full-on makeover.” With services that include audio installation, car detailing and anything else you can do to a car, Skribble said his spa has an “amazing staff” that will even pick up and deliver your car at your convenience (for more info, check out their website at www.skribblesautospa.com).Skribble, whose first car was a 1971 Dodge Challenger R/T, owns three cars: a Denali truck, a Hummer, and an E class 500 Mercedes (his wife's car). But there is one, which he owned when he was younger, that he is avidly searching for: a 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible. And when he finds it, he will give it the ultimate spa treatment. Can you guess where?Skribble is also celebrating the release of his 15th album, his first on Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto Records. The album features some original dance productions by Skribble himself, including Leslie Carter's “Don't Stop” (which experiments with live guitars in the studio), Harry Choo Choo Romero's “Feedback” and two others. The album also features exclusive remixes by DJ/ producers Erick Morillo (“What Do You Want”), Deep Dish (“Flashdance”) and Anthony Acid (“Twisted”).Skribble cites Grand Wizard Theodore, Grandmaster Flash, Cool Herc and Junior Vasquez as some of his influences and remembers James Brown's “Funky Drummer” as the first record he ever spun. This assorted blend of music, he said, is “how you keep fresh and keep the creative process going. I love making the music because I love seeing the crowd respond to it.”His compilations reflect that balance and having just released Perfecto PresentsÉ DJ Skribble (you can hear samples on his Website at www.djskribble.com), he is already planning to release a hip-hop album. What artists would he like on his guest list? Eminem, of course, as Skribble calls him “one of the most talented and gifted people I've ever met.” In the meantime, Skribble is set to tour in support of his latest dance effort, with special appearances in New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Cancun, London, Paris, Toronto and Ibiza, an island off the coast of Spain. With so much accomplished, Skribble said he feels like he's just “getting my second wind. I'm lucky to have had a long run, but there are a lot of years to come.”
