Arrest In Attempted Arson
A 37-year-old male has been arrested and charged with arson and criminal mischief in connection with the January 13 incident in which he allegedly lit a can of flammable liquid and threw it into a building at 25-33 Astoria Boulevard.
Joseph Pappas allegedly threw the lit can into the vestibule of the building. When residents realized what it was, they kicked the can onto the sidewalk.
A police officer on foot patrol saw the disturbance and placed Pappas under arrest.
There were no injuries but there was minor damage to the vestibule and building.
