For Joanne Thomson, 58, of Ogdensburg, N.Y., the only easy part about never meeting her three big sisters and two big brothers was never knowing she had any.
Born in Manhattan as Martha Barea, Thomson was put up for adoption at 10 months old when her mother, Carmen, became ill. She grew up happily in Park Slope, Brooklyn, as Joanne Campione, always knowing she had another family but never knowing where they were, or even what her birth name was.
