Illegal conversions? - Has anyone visited Flushing recently? In Helen Marshall’s acceptance speech published in The Queens Courier Op-ed last week, she included the issue of illegal home conversions on her to-do list for her next term. Where was she in her first term? The conversions happen under the noses of those who claim concern and they stay that way!
These conversions are never reversed and so old-time residents must deal with it - like it or not! I haven’t lived in Jackson Heights since the 50’s when it exuded a great deal of neighborhood charm. I understand the noise level is abominable today.
Realtors should also be investigated when pushing new owners into a sale - telling them they can convert a one-family into multiple-family dwellings. They’re a large part of the problem.
