Who’s Paying Fines?

To the Editor:
“Illegal transit strike to draw heavy fines for union and workers”, “Al Sharpton agrees to pay fine for election campaign fund improprieties”, and “Corporations fined for numerous violations”, all banner headlines that recently made the news.
Millions of dollars in fines were heavily publicized, and then … media silence. Does anyone check to see if these levies were collected? I don’t recall seeing a single article or report on this.
It is high time the media sees a story to its conclusion after starting it with great fanfare.
Either the media or a private, independent public interest group should monitor and periodically report on these financial matters.
It wouldn’t surprise me if their findings have the makings of another good story.
