With a raw-food workshop that produced fresh zucchini fries and a platter of spaghetti and veggie meatballs, the nonprofit Friends of Brook Park introduced on Saturday, December 17, their new storefront office along Bruckner Boulevard in Mott Haven.
The nonprofit, which maintains Brook Park at East 141st Street and Brook Avenue, offering arts and educational workshops, as well as gardening space, will use the office at 11 Lincoln Avenue to complement the garden and provide year-round lessons and community events regardless of the weather.
Ultimately, said Friends executive director Harry Bubbins, the new space, which the group began leasing in early December, will serve a variety of functions, hosting yoga and meditation classes, housing a bicycle-rental operation, and serving as a gallery for local art.
