The City Council approved the $400 million Gateway Center at the Bronx Terminal Market last week, greenlighting one of the largest private sector investments ever in the borough.
The council on February 1 approved the controversial plan to raze the 80-year-old existing food market to make way for the new Gateway Center. On the same day, Borough President Adolfo Carrion, Jr., Councilman Joel Rivera, Councilwoman Maria Baez, and the Bronx City Council Delegation announced a community benefits agreement with the developer, Related Companies, and the community surrounding the development
