And the winner is…

After 12 weeks of sweat and hard work, the Queens Biggest Losers contest has come to an end. Through fitness and training, all six contestants have walked away as winners, gaining back their self confidence and their well being and learning the importance of healthy living. With a total weight loss of 21 lbs. and 11.3% body fat, The Queens Courier is proud to declare Darcy Novick as this year’s winner.
Novick, 40, a resident of the Bay Club, has been an avid reader of The Queens Courier since she moved to the borough. She works at a hair product manufacturer and as a comedy show producer.
“I joined the contest to help motivate me and keep me focused on my diet and exercise program,” said Novick. “I am so happy now! I feel healthier and I now can appreciate clothes shopping.”
Novick has been struggling with her weight all her life. She started the contest tired and out of shape at 186 lbs. Novick stuck to her diet and followed the advice of Kerri, her trainer at the Fitness Consultant; Nicolette Pace, her nutritionist; and her group leader at Weight Watchers.
“When it comes to dieting, I’ve learned that if you commit to too much, you will quit and also, don’t eat what you don’t like. The weight will come off, just a little slower than you might want it to,” she said. “It’s all about finding the right food so you don’t feel deprived. Portion control is the answer.”
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, Novick will receive a makeover, free of charge, provided by Christie & Co. Salon
“I would like to thank The Queens Courier for giving me this opportunity. It was a great gift,” Novick said. “This has been such a positive experience on so many levels.”
