9-year-old Amanda Pyne was the winner of the Sy Sephone Young Athlete of the Year Award, for her involvement in numerous after-school activities.
In remarks at the meeting, Deputy Inspector Scott Hanover urged residents not to leave valuables in their cars or in shopping carts. He also reminded them to be careful when filling up their gas tanks, and told the attendees to take pictures of their valuables as a means of crime prevention in case of home break-ins.
Soskin told the audience that there will be no Community Council meetings in July or August, but the National Night Out Against Crime will be held on August 1 at the Modell’s store in Douglaston.
