The Kew Gardens Hills Civic Association and the Doe Fund were joined by Councilmember James F. Gennaro to officially kick off the new graffiti removal project on Main Street.
While Main Street in Kew Gardens Hills receives a new look, the employees of the Doe Fund get a new chance at life. The Doe Fund works to employ, train and rehabilitate formerly-homeless men and women by giving them work experience and the life skills they need to stay off the streets and become productive members of society.
The project has been made possible thanks to funding from the Kew Gardens Hills Civic Association and from Gennaro's office.
This is not the first time that KGHCA and the Doe Fund have teamed up, a testament to the success of the program. Previously the two groups arranged to have Doe Fund participants clean Main Street in Kew Garden Hills five days per week.
