ARTSPLASH 2006 showcases national talent

Starting with its grand opening reception, the Rockaway Artists Alliance's newest exhibition, ARTSPLASH 2006, has burst forth in form, color and creativity.
Spread over two galleries, ARTSPLASH 2006 combines sculpture, photography, digital art, pastel, painting, watercolor, drawing, mixed media and even DVD video and spoken-word CDs in a large and unique showcase for artists from as far away as California and as near as New York.
In fact, painter Annie Seaton came all the way from her home in Beverly Hills to attend the opening and, by the way, came away with prizes for Best in Painting and Best In Show as awarded by exhibition judge Pedro Pacheco.
Truly a multi-media event, ARTSPLASH welcomes the performing arts both within its T-6 and T-7 galleries and on its outdoor Moon Stage. A highlight of the show will be an appearance by the Marianna Bekerman Dance Company bringing to life &#8220Taro” - a complete dance performance with original music and seven performers - on Saturday, October 7 at 3 p.m.
In a Fall feast for all the senses, the Rockaway Artist Alliance has gathered the talents of more than 30 artists and innumerable performers as it presents ARTSPLASH 2006. This vibrant exhibition is running until Sunday, October 15 at the Rockaway Center for the Arts (RoCA) at Fort Tilden in Rockaway.
Gallery hours are Saturday noon to 4 p.m., Sunday 1 to 4 p.m. and by appointment.
