More than 150 exhibitors and 2,000 attendees will fill Terrace on the Park for one of the county's foremost networking events - the Long Island City Business Development Corporation (LICBDC) Luncheon and Trade Show.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 15, exhibitors from a host of different business groups, nonprofit and cultural organizations will display tables with information about their particular business and give those in attendance the opportunity to network.
“We think it is one of the premier networking events throughout all of Queens,” said LICBDC President Gayle Baron. “Our expectations are very positive; it is really a terrific business event.”
In addition to the trade show, which runs throughout the day and is free of charge to anyone who wants to attend, there will be free panels and seminars about services offered to women- and minority-owned businesses. The LICBDC in partnership with the Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC) will teach those in attendance to write a business plan, sell products and services to government agencies and corporations, obtain loans, and comply with government rules and regulations.
Last year, 150 exhibitors displayed tables at the show while 2,500 people attended, and organizers are hoping the number of exhibitors will be similar this year (the maximum the space allows) and even more people will attend.
“One of the things we have been doing in the past is to have a very diverse show and reaching out to a very broad section of businesses,” said Dan Miner, LICBDC senior vice president in charge of Business Services. “There will be a little something for everyone.”
In addition to the trade show and panels, there will be a luncheon from 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. where the LICBDC will honor Kenneth J.Buettner, president, York Scaffold Equipment Corporation, Inc.; Alanna Heiss, director, P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center; Sanford H. Zuckerbrot, chairman, Sholom and Zuckerbrot Realty LLC.
Miner said that this year's honorees have contributed greatly to Long Island City for more than 25 years.
“[The board] looks for people who have done a truly remarkable job contributing and promoting local economic development,” Miner said.
Tickets for the luncheon are $80 for LICBDC members and $90 for non-members. To pre-register, buy lunch tickets or an exhibit table, contact Angela Augustine at 718-786-5300, Ext. 25 or e-mail her at angela@licbdc.org.
