The Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts held their annual Gala on Saturday, December 9 at Flushing Town Hall. City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Harold Closter, director of affiliations program at the Smithsonian Institution, Peter Koo, president of Starside Drugs and Flushing Chinese Business Association and Mark Pucci, vice president of development for Westfield Corporation were honored for their hard work on behalf of the Flushing Council and the community. Councilmember Leroy Comrie accepted the award on behalf of City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who was honored for her “championship of the arts throughout her extensive public service career.” The Flushing Council, located at Flushing Town Hall on Northern Boulevard, was founded in 1979 to be a catalyst for developing and promoting the visual and performing arts throughout Queens.
