“My mother would not have been real pleased with my language,” Green said. One of the targets of his tirade: Cameron Tyler, the former Cardozo star from Jamaica. “Cam, I put a lot of responsibility on your shoulders this year as a sophomore to run this club, to lead us,” Green told Tyler. “You're just not doing your job. You're not earning your scholarship.” It was a major indictment for the guard, whom Green recruited from Notre Dame (Mass.) Academy prep school. But Tyler responded in a big way. He scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half, helping lead FDU to a 74-73 lead over LIU in a Northeast Conference game. Tyler even scored six straight points and had a big steal between the 3:18 and 2:13 marks in the second half. After missing the first nine games of his senior year (2002-2003) at Cardozo with a broken hand, he returned and averaged 27.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 6 assists per game. “A heat-seeking missile, who is almost an indefensible penetrator,” recruiting guru Tom Konchalski called him at the time. The 6-foot former TimesLedger All-Queens first-team guard is second on the Knights in scoring (12.7 points per game) and leads them in assists (4.9). “I expect him to be make the All-NEC team,” Judges coach Ron Naclerio said before Tyler's career is over in Teaneck, N.J., “if not competing for the player of the year award.” Teel on the bench: Also at LIU's Wellness Center Saturday was former Flushing HS guard Vernon Teel, who is on the Blackbirds' roster, but is still waiting to be cleared by the NCAA, an LIU spokesman said. Teel, who prepped at Laurinburg, probably won't play this season.
