In its report, the PSC found that Con Ed was poorly prepared for the blackout, utility executives did not comprehend the impact of the outage on western Queens communities and the company did not adequately communicate with customers and elected officials during the blackout.
“This proves that Con Ed's recent report that it issued on its own actions was a complete whitewash, riddled with holes and as unreliable as Con Ed's underground wires,” Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. (D-Astoria) said. “Now, we need to begin to hold someone accountable for the devastation we encountered in my community.”
