“They didn't want to go their whole high school careers without beating [Francis Lewis],” Cardozo coach Larry Carradine said after that game of his seniors. The Patriots had a similar thought before they played the Judges again on Jan. 17. “We didn't want to lose to them twice in one season,” Francis Lewis coach Mike Eisenberg said. And they didn't. In the most competitive basketball game between the two teams perhaps ever, Cardozo took Lewis to triple overtime, before bowing out, 59-53, in Fresh Meadows in a Queens AA match-up. “We knew they weren't 30 points better than us,” Lewis junior Sylvia Davis (18 points, 9 assists) said. “We just didn't come with our full package (then).” Judges senior Lekesha Harris (12 points) fouled out in the fourth quarter and the Patriots used it to their advantage. Guards Davis and Chrissy Toth (14 points, 6 assists) paced Francis Lewis (6-4), but senior forward Michele Runko had one of her best all-around games with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Sophomore Andree De Leon had 17 points. Cardozo (7-3) had four in double figures: St. Peter's bound Adenike Oyesile (22 points, 24 rebounds), Nicole Garzon (17), Nikita Green (13) and Harris.
