Celebrate the Year of the Pig

The Chinese New Year Spectacular will return to Radio City Music Hall to help New Yorkers welcome in The Year of the Pig.
The end of February 2007 marks the end of The Year of the Dog and the beginning of The Year of the Pig. The pig is “regarded as a model of fortitude, sincerity, and honor.” New Tang Dynasty TV is presenting the show from February 14 through February 17.
Attendees will celebrate the Chinese New Year with a 45-piece orchestra and a company that includes 150 dancers, vocalists and instrumentalists. Through the show, viewers will be transported to the Tang Dynasty.
Chinese tenor Guimin Guan will perform two songs and the orchestra will be conducted by Rutang Chen.
Michelle Ren has choreographed the piece “Forsythia” and Tia Zhang has choreographed an adaptation of “The Monk Who Endured.”
The Chinese New Year Spectacular will have shows at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. during its February 14 to February 17 run.
Tickets for the shows cost $38 and up.
Performances will take place at Radio City Music Hall, which is located at 1260 6th Avenue at 50th Street.
