The State Liquor Authority commissioners ruled on Feb. 7 that Ivi's Restaurant at 39-09 104th St. in Corona will have its liquor license suspended from Feb. 27 to March 9 and will be fined $8,000, authority spokesman William Crowley said. The Authority issued the penalty nearly a year after the original violation because the agency was not informed of the underage sale until May, and subsequent negotiations for a lesser penalty fell apart, Crowley said.The penalty was also increased because of a number of previous violations, including overcrowding, unlicensed cabaret, locked exit and prior sales to a minor between 2003 and 2006, which carried fines of $11,250.Employees at the bar Monday night said they were not aware of the most recent sanction, as they prepared for the night's clientele.The owners of the bar and their attorney did not respond to requests for comment.Outside the club, a handmade sign sought customers to celebrate Valentine's Day at the location.The State Liquor Authority sanctioned three other Queens clubs last week. Juan Grocery, at 64-21 Broadway in Woodside was hit with a 10-day suspension and an $8,000 fine; Puerto Plata Restaurant at 149-17 Jamaica Ave. had its license revoked on top of an $8,000 fine; and Nueva Cascada, of 25-94 Steinway St. in Astoria, also had its license revoked along with a $5,000 fine, officials said..Reach reporter Adam Pincus by e-mail at news@timesledger.com or by phone at 718-229-0300, Ext. 154.
