In Memoriam Steven Braunstein

Steven Braunstein, 61, founder and CEO of S&B Clothing Co. in Farmingdale, passed away on February 8 after a long and valiant battle with leukemia.
Braunstein was born in New York City and was a long-time resident of Hewlett, Long Island.
Ed Kass, Braunstein’s “right-hand man” remembers his colleague and friend as a “very generous man who would ‘check in’ with his friends daily.”
“At his 60th birthday party — which he threw for himself — he didn’t want gifts and instead gave a gift to everyone who attended.”
As a boss, Braunstein “let you do your thing and you knew you wanted to do your best possible [job] for him and the company,” according to Kass. “People loved working hard for him.”
Ever an inspiration, Braunstein “gave so much of himself,” said Kass.
His interests included travel.
“One of his most memorable trips was to Israel a few years ago with his wife Susan and two sons,” said Kass, who noted that his friend also liked speedboats and had a “passion for cars.”
Braunstein is survived by his wife Susan, sons Paul and Eric, daughter-in-law Lurena and sister Harriet.
Arrangements were handled by the Boulevard-Riverside Chapels in Hewlett. Interment was at the Beth David Cemetery in Elmont.
