Quinn pointed out that more than two-thirds of the people in the five boroughs pay rent and she said would push for legislation to provide those who rent with a $300 tax credit.
In her state of the city address, Quinn said the tax benefit would go to persons earning less than $43,000, married couples earning less than $54,000, one-child families earning less than $65,000 and two child families earning less than $75,000.
Homeowners have been eligible for a $400 tax credit since 2004.
