It was during his college days at SUNY-Binghamton that John Martin realized there were no posters of the Bronx. The fact nagged at him for years, he said, until he reconnected with an old friend from high school, Anthony Ramirez II, who helped him figure out the reason: It had been years since anyone bothered to photograph the whole Bronx.
So with no training in tourism, publishing or marketing, Martin and Ramirez hired a photographer, rented a helicopter and took to the sky. The result is a startup operation called Mainland Media, which debuted its website
