A classic fairy tale will come alive at Queens College, starting Friday, March 23 with the opening of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, the musical.
The show, which commemorates the show’s television premiere 50 years ago, was co-produced by the Drama, Theatre, and Dance Departments of the Aaron Copland School of Music. These departments are part of the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College.
The show’s cast of 42 includes three local children - sisters Alexandra and Cameron Auginello and Alexis Marquardt - and Queens College graduate student Siri Howard and undergraduate student Max Roll who will star in the production as Cinderella and Prince Charming.
Rodgers & Hammerstein - a collaboration of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II - wrote songs like “In My Own Little Corner,” “Ten Minutes Ago,” and “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?” which will be performed as part of the show’s score.
Directed by Charles Repole, the show will run through Sunday, April 1 with tickets ranging in price from $15 to $18. Discounts are available for senior citizens, alumni, and Queens College students and staff members with proper identification, $2 savings for Friday night and Sunday afternoon shows normally costing $15 and $3 off the $18 performances on Saturday nights.
Performances will be presented on Friday, March 23 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, March 24 at 2 and 8 p.m.; Sunday, March 25 at 3 p.m.; Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, March 31 at 2 and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, April 1 at 3 p.m.
Orders may be placed by phone at 718-793-8080 or at the Colden Auditorium box office, located on Queens College’s campus. Tickets are also available one hour before each performance, held in the Goldstein Theater. Free parking is available.
