Garden of Readin’

P.S. 84 alumnus Assemblymember Michael Gianaris sits with preschoolers from his alma mater in the newly constructed “Literacy Garden” at the school, located at 22-45 41st Street in Astoria.
Gianaris got the cooperation of the Power Authority of New York to fund the project, which creates the garden as an outdoor classroom. This provides the young students with a beautiful place to learn, outside the walls of the traditional school room.
The P.S. 84 project is part of Gianaris’ “Revitalize Astoria” campaign, which has also included construction of Carlos Lillo Park in Astoria Heights, graffiti removal and park beautification projects throughout his district.
