John M. Armentano

John M. Armentano, co-founder of Farrell Fritz law firm, passed away at Huntington Hospital on April 18 after a long battle with lymphatic cancer.
Born on May 4, 1939 in New York City to Anthony and Anna Manago, Armentano attended Xavier High School in Manhattan and then went on receive his Juris Doctor in 1964 from New York University School of Law after attaining a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University three years earlier.
Fulfilling an ambition he had since childhood, Armentano began his career as an attorney on Long Island, representing a variety of real estate developers over his many years of work in Nassau and Suffolk County.
“John’s love for family, life and the law has left us all with a lasting legacy that will not be forgotten,” said Charles Strain, managing partner of Farrell Fritz.
“He will be remembered most by his partners for his ability to ‘see the big picture’ and his insightful ability to develop strategy in the most complex of cases. He was a true mentor to all, with high standards of excellence, a personal approach, a vitality and a rich sense of humor that will be missed by everyone who knew him,” Strain added.
Armentano, 67 years old at the time of his passing, was also a contributing editor for the Real Estate Law Journal and lent his expertise to the New York Law Journal, dealing mostly with zoning and land use as well as other environmental factors.
He is survived by Joan Hyland Armentano, his wife of 38 years, and his three children: John C. Keri of Huntington Station, Annemarie Savage Thomas of Westbury and Catherine Armentano, who lives in Manhattan.
