JSPOA celebrates 35 years

The Jamaica Service Program for Older Adults, (JSPOA), celebrated 35 years with an awards celebration at Antun’s on May 5.
JSPOA operates five senior centers in southeast Queens: Conlon Community Center, Friendship Center Adult Day Care, Rockaway Boulevard Senior Center, South Jamaica Senior Center and the Theodora G. Jackson Adult Center.
Assemblymember William Scarborough congratulated the honorees and commended JSPOA for their committed and compassionate service to seniors.
Besides providing seniors with a place to congregate, socialize and receive a hot nutritious meal, JSPOA provides in-home services as well, including daily and weekend Meals-0n-Wheels, weekend congregate meal, case management, emergency home care and Lifeline-Alert, an emergency response system. They also provide a variety of other services, including emergency financial assistance, health monitoring, senior employment, programs for the visually handicapped, crime victim assistance including elder abuse and domestic violence and seniors-in-cyberspace.
