Mary Louis, St. Francis Prep and Archbishop Molloy each rolled to victories in the Brooklyn/Queens Catholic league softball quarterfinals.
Mary Louis, who finished third in Queens, routed Brooklyn’s second seed, Bishop Ford, 15-2, Tuesday afternoon. Junior Kaitlyn Smith tossed six and one-third solid innings, striking out five and walking just two. She also had three hits, including a homerun and two doubles, and drove in five runs. Shortstop Vanessa Melendez added three hits and four stolen bases and Laura Guzman drove in three runs for the Hilltoppers (17-5), who will meet top-seeded St. Francis Prep, winners over Bishop Loughlin, in the semifinals.
Molloy, Queens’ second seed, ripped Bishop Kearney, 8-1. Kayley Ferran went the distance, striking out 10 in a complete-game four-hitter. Jackie Rafferty hit a three-run homer and Katie Shea had two hits for the Stanners (17-5), who will meet Fontbonne Hall, Brooklyn’s top seed, in the semifinals.
