Contractor shot in Whitestone

A 54-year-old Whitestone contractor remains in critical condition in the intensive care unit at New York Hospital Queens, after being shot three times while standing in his driveway.
Boris Grzic, 59, of 145-49 17th Road was apparently getting into his car about 7:15 a.m. on Friday, June 15, when an unknown assailant shot him once in the shoulder and twice in the head.
Police in the 109th Precinct responded to a 9-1-1 call about shots fired, and discovered Grzic clinging to life. Four .25 caliber shell casings were reportedly found at the scene.
Grzic is president of a Whitestone-based construction company which he began out of his home in 1983 and now does some $50 million in business annually.
According to published reports, Grzic was in a long-running business dispute with another contractor, and “owes a lot of people a lot of money,” according to a police source.
