Civic Association discusses the future of Aqueduct Racetrack

The Ozone Tudor Civic Association held its monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 19 at Tudor Village Park in Ozone Park. Above, Larry Love (center, wearing necktie), who represents Assemblymember Audrey Pheffer, addresses locals on the continuing saga of Aqueduct Racetrack.
Governor Eliot Spitzer recently issued a proposal to keep the track open, provided the New York Racing Association relinquishes its claim to ownership of the property. The problem, said Love, is that the proposal holds no legal authority. “If this deal goes through, the governor could turn around in six months and change his mind,” said Love. “[Pheffer] is pushing for a binding, legal agreement that the track will stay in operation.”
