Mr. G visits with fans at Atlantic Bank

Mr. Irv Gikofsky also known as the popular Mr. G., weatherman for CW11 and WCBS-FM 101.1, stopped by at the Atlantic Bank, on Steinway Street in Astoria, which is sponsor of his broadcast.
Mr. G smiled and chatted with his numerous fans who clamored for autographs and photos with him.
“I’m off today,” said Robin Simon of Astoria, “So I had to come in and see you.”
All the guests received gift bags filled with various goodies, including a WCBS-FM T-shirt. “This is cool, I’ll definitely wear this,” Simon said.
Noreen Caraher, 71, also from Astoria walked to the Atlantic Bank branch from Queensborough Plaza for the chance to see Mr. G.
“I met you before,” said taxi driver Mike Klem of Astoria. “You had a heart attack in my taxi, didn’t you?”
“That wasn’t me! I have a great heart! I run marathons,” said Mr. G. with a laugh.
Mr. G. will also be visiting local schools to speak to the children as part of the promotion to celebrate the return of WCBS-FM and its popular oldies format to the airwaves.
