Zelma Chamberlain, Science of Spirituality’s Outreach Coordinator for the Mid-Atlantic region will hold a seminar called “Staying Sane in an Insane World.” Chamberlain, who teaches at-risk youth in the Fairfax, Virginia County schools refers to meditation as a tool that has helped her deal with the difficult situations in her life. “I was born Baptist, raised Catholic, converted to Islam, and now I [meditate],” said Chamberlain, describing the spiritually transcending power of meditation. Her motto? “If you don’t go within, you go without.”

Regional Hispanic Outreach Coordinator, Science of Spirituality
Science of Spirituality’s third speaker of the day is Robin Ghertner, the center’s Regional Hispanic Outreach Coordinator. Speaking in Spanish, Robin will lead a seminar he is calling “Meditation: Our Internal Prescription for Peace.” Ghertner will teach about accessing an “inner source” of healing power and is confident “people will come away with a very powerful, very simple meditative practice.”

Elizabeth Aloni is the founder of EJoy Coaching, a love, career, family, and relationship coaching service based in Chicago. The Bayside native, who appeared on NBC’s Average Joe as a Life Coach and has coached internal employees and members of the Spark Network, which owns dating websites Jdate and American Singles, will lead a free group coaching session.
While traditional “therapy focuses a lot on the past, coaching focuses on what’s going on right now,” Aloni explained. “Too many people wait for the right time, or the right educational background, or the right circumstances. I help people go out and get it.”

Bally Total Fitness will be present at the Health, Fitness & Wellness Expo, offering free yoga instruction from one of Bally’s master yogis. Daleep Paul will lead a group session, providing Expo attendees with guidance and the opportunity to challenge their bodies and motivation. Bally Total Fitness offers classes tailored to meet all fitness levels.
Expo attendees are advised to bring their own yoga mat.

Dr. Ji Han, who received his training in Anesthesiology at NYPH Weill Cornell Medical Center, is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and completed a tri-institution fellowship in Interventional Pain Management at NYPH Weill-Cornell, Hospital for Special Surgery and Memorial Sloan Kettering.
Dr. Han became devoted to pain management during his anesthesiology training, noticing an abundance of patients suffering from inappropriate treatment of chronic pain. He is now Director of Pain Medicine at Queens Medical Associates in Fresh Meadows, New York and focuses on Interventional Pain Management.

Dr. Duarte will teach Expo attendees about how her organization can help people heal “from within by helping you find which food and lifestyle choices will work best.”

Miller will also discuss employment opportunities with Arbonne International, which is seeking independent consultants.
CHINESE ADULTS DAY CARE PROGRAM

Lynn Lin will speak about the Parker Jewish Institute’s Chinese Program, which “offers frail, elderly Chinese clients a bright, cheerful environment designed to meet their medical and cultural needs,” according to Lin. With over one hundred and forty-five clients, the elderly Chinese community has come to rely on the Chinese Program’s quality and caring service and strong community ties.
The Program provides door-to-door roundtrip transportation six days a week, as well as free lunch. Offering a variety of activities such as dancing, English classes, arts and crafts, as well as activities specific to Chinese culture and a roster of speakers in health-related fields, Lin hopes to introduce many new people at the Health Expo to Parker Jewish’s Chinese Program.

Dr. Raider, who has held a faculty position at UConn Medical School and has maintained a private practice in family medicine and geriatrics since 1982, considers meditation “one of our great untapped resources” and “the best active modality we can take as an antidote to stress.” A physician most interested in the esoteric aspects of meditation, Raider will lead a seminar titled “Discover the Healing Power of Meditation,” as he extols the practice for its ability to put someone in contact with his or her inner energy.
