Arrest In Shooting In Springfield Gardens

Police have arrested a man in connection with the shooting of an 11-year-old Springfield Gardens boy in his own home.
According to reports, Tyshon Falconer answered the door of his two-story brick home at about 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 30. The suspect now in custody, Michael Peterson, 20, asked for Falconer’s older brother, Tony, 16, and when the victim tried to close the door, the perp shot him once.
The bullet went into Falconer’s chest and through his back. Wounded, he climbed the stairs to get help from his parents.
Falconer was taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he is recovering from a collapsed lung.
Reports say that neither Tony nor Taylor, 13, Falconer were home at the time of the incident, but that Tony was questioned by police, and that he later acknowledged a dispute that occurred three weeks ago.
Peterson, of Elmont, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted, and was ordered held without bail until a court appearance on January 22.
