The 49th Precinct Crime Prevention Unit will forge ahead this year with a fresh direction as a new officer takes the helm.
Officer Troy Doiley, who has been an officer for 14 years, succeeds Officer Sammy Perez who moved to the Community Affairs Unit last month.
Doiley has spent the majority of his career at the 49th, with the exception of 1997 to 2000, a short stint of time that he was stationed in the Orchard Beach Checkpoint Unit.
For the last four years, Doiley worked in the Domestic Violence unit of the precinct.
Anticipating a change of pace and looking forward to meeting more members of the community, Doiley said he is happy to head the unit.
